Reviews:
This midsize dedicated plunge router uses the same smooth-running,
2-horsepower, variable-speed motor found in Bosch's popular 1617
fixed-base and D-handle routers. It features soft start to reduce
torque at startup and an electronic speed-control system that allows
the tool to keep the bit speed constant even when routing through
tough spots in the wood. This router also uses Bosch's unique precision
centering system, which aligns the sub base precisely with the spindle,
so template work can be done without concern for blade wobble. In
addition, Bosch includes an adapter for the sub base that allows
it to be used with Porter-Cable templates. Like its cousin--the
Bosch 1617 router--this is a very smooth and quiet-running router.
It's a joy to use and produces great results. We also appreciate
the spindle lock on this router, which allows for single wrench
bit changes. We also really like the accuracy and convenience of
the fine bit depth adjustment. If you're looking for a well-designed,
full-featured, dedicated plunge router, this model certainly fits
the bill.
